Marketing your tree service business (or any business for that matter) can sometimes feel like an overwhelming task.

But, when you eliminate all the fluff, it really boils down to A, B, C, D, E.

Seem too simplistic? Here’s what we mean:

A: Attract new potential customers (called prospects)

B: Build a list of these prospects (now they’re called leads and they live in your customer relationship management system, or CRM for short.)

C: Convert the people on your list.

D: Deliver happiness to your customers.

E: Evaluate what worked and what didn’t.

Problem is, it’s usually that first one, the “A” that gives us the most headache.

In our previous post on <a title=”How To Quickly Grow Your Landscaping Business Using Facebook Advertising how to use Facebook advertising to grow your lawn care business, we explained how using social media is one avenue to attract new potential customers.

Use these tree service marketing ideas to grow your business this spring:

1. Get Your Business Listed In Online Directories.

Getting your business name and contact information in as many places as possible helps you get found more easily online.

Why is this important? Most people don’t dig out the phone book anymore to look up “tree service companies.” They hop on their computers or phones and search.

To save time and money, try a service like Moz local or Directory Bug.

When you list your business with them, they add your business information to ALL the other online directories, saving you a ton of time, and getting your business information in front of more people.

2. Join a job match site like Homeadvisor.com

With HomeAdvisor, you create an account on their site and are matched with homeowners looking for tree service, landscape, or lawn care services in your area.

The only catch is you (as the business owner) have to pay for the leads you get.

3. Lead a workshop.

Lowes and Home Depot are fantastic at this marketing approach. They lead DIY workshops on everything from bathroom renovations, to common home repairs at no charge.

The result? People turn around and buy the tools and resources they need to pull off what they learned in their own homes.

Get creative, and see what workshop ideas you can come up with.

4. Create partnerships with other businesses in your area.

Chances are, you know other business owners that you could share referrals with.

For example, if you’re a tree service business, partner with a local lawn care business to share referrals with.

5. Utilize Google, Bing, and/or Yahoo advertising.

The benefit to using search advertising, is because of the immediacy of the need, and you can target potential customers by time and day, zip code, and loads of other data.

If someone has a stump that needs removing, and they type “stump removal companies in _________”, you want your ad to pop up.

Start using these marketing tactics now, and you might be surprised how many new leads you attract and customers you convert in the coming months.
